From import/export vessel representation to cargo handling on the coast/in the vessel

Our port services are rendered for total aspects of domestic, outward-bound, or coasting transportation, ranging over receiving of steel materials and shipment of products from the steel mill of Sumitomo Metal Industries., Ltd. Namely, we take on vessel representation that covers clearing the procedures to receive import/export vessels, towing a vessel to the port, operation of a coast crane for receiving raw materials, coast load handling, and onboard cargo handling supervision. We develop and execute plans for port services, loading, and unloading, by assigning over 80 vessels per month.

Implementing various focuses to protect safety in all areas,
not to mention quality of transportation.

When unloading steel materials, it is necessary to hoist the materials as carried over by conventional vessels by maintaining balance and keeping close tabs on the strength of the ship. Also, when loading steel products onboard, we implement various precautions to keep workers safe and maintain excellent export quality, by setting up a pedestal to prevent cargo shifting, setting out a net to prevent a fall of workers at the time of loading. We are also active in pushing for automation. At Kashima, unmanned cargo handling is implemented with an automatic hoisting system at a product warehouse adjoining the wharf.  Also, in all-weather berths, steel products are handled with fully mechanized and automated equipment. By putting to work our know-how for handling heavy-weight cargo, we also helped a transportation machinery manufacturer with product handling.

自動吊具システム
Column1Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) system
The AGV represents that example of that automated and unmanned system. Steel plate coils of 1.5m in diameter as churned out from the factory are automatically picked up for transportation. All stages from receiving into a warehouse to transporting to the wharf are performed in a fully unmanned operation. A single pallet can accommodate a load of up to 7 or 8 tons. A large-sized pallet would allow transfer of a load of over 10 tons. The state-of-the-art system as implemented in a combination of multiple cranes integrated with noninteractive control and the optimum three-dimensional automatic operation system and a coil pallet capable of coils of various sizes, is making an automatic mass transportation a possibility.

Tugboat

We also owns tugboats to tow a large-sized vessel to the wharf of the port. Taking the control of a large-sized vessel that is not maneuverable in the port, a tugboat tows it with delicate control and enables the best docking at the wharf while closely monitoring the balance from side to side and from front to back, and also the conditions of the wharf.
